On 6th February 2016, Director of Deerwalk Foundation, along with 5 volunteers, Anil Shrestha, Pratibh Acharya, Arun Amatya, Sameer Shrestha, and Shankar Koirala went to Gilung, Lamjung to provide cash to a blind porter, Kali Bahadur Pariyar.
Kali Bahadur is quite popular in his village. After goods coming from Pokhara, Rambajar, and Bhorletar are dropped in the local market, Kali Bahadur gets busy delivering those goods to the locals of other VDCs in the high hills.
After we came across a news on Republica (http://www.nepalmountainnews.com/cms/2016/01/01/blind-porter-in-remote-hills/), which had featured Kali Bahadur, Deerwalk Foundation decided to help this determined man. After finalizing the plans and details, the team went to Gilung on 5th January to provide support to him.
We provided him with a fund of NRs. 25,000/-. He was very happy to get this support from us, and his face was filled with gratefulness.
