Relief Work – Day 27

On 4th November 2015, Deerwalk Foundation volunteers, Silvia, Yogendra, Sajal, Simran, Omendra, Malika and the Campus Chief Surendra Nath Adhikari reached Okharpauwa and Paire Gaon, the damaged areas of Nuwakot District, to continue the relief work and distribute cash of Rs 2000 per household for 23 families at Okharpauwa and 84 families at Paire gaon. A household with a deceased family member was given fund of Rs 10000. The villagers were captivated to see the commitment that Deerwalk Foundation stood for. Except for the amount of 15,000 per family, the government has not been able to provide any other support. This is not even enough to build a temporary household. Furthermore, they requested to see if any support for permanent structure can be provided.

Deerwalk Foundation has a plan to support some public schools and colleges in the damaged areas to help them establish a solar empowered computer lab. For this purpose, the volunteers along with the campus chief visited Chandesori HSS at Dhungana Gaon to get the details in order to support the college with workable computers which had been destroyed by the recent earthquake.
